Glidepath and the innovation centre of Vancouver International Airport - Innovative Travel Solutions (ITS) exhibited the CHECKITXPRESS - self-service bag drop amidst rave reviews at the 2018 Passenger Terminal Expo held in Stockholm, Sweden from the 20th – 22nd of March.
The partnership between Glidepath and ITS allowed for a holistic collaboration that drove many of the key features that make the CHECKITXPRESS a truly unique product. Fully CUSS compliant and designed for use by all - including those with reduced mobility, the CHECKITXPRESS combines inspiring industrial design with cutting-edge technology.
At only 100 mm (4 inches) off the floor, the weigh-scale conveyor features a ramp to allow passengers to simply wheel their bag up onto the conveyor where image capture cameras quickly and accurately scan the bag tag. Intrusion sensors prevent bag tampering and keep passengers safe from moving conveyor belts while a 3D camera checks bag dimensions. All of this takes place in a matter of seconds and agent intervention has been fully minimised.

The Passenger Terminal Expo was attended by over 1300 delegates and response to the unit was exceptional. “The general feedback was more than positive” said Sir Ken Stevens, owner and Chairman of Glidepath. “People were excited! Our collaboration with ITS means we developed this unit with full customer input and that has come through clearly in the feedback”.
The occasion was marked by another significant success. For the ninth consecutive year, Glidepath’s valued customer and bag drop development partner - Vancouver International Airport (YVR) was voted Best Airport in North America at the Skytrax World Airport Awards, which is held in conjunction with the Passenger Terminal Expo. Voted by passengers, the independent awards recognise airport customer satisfaction through results from an annual survey.
