Quiport Corporation S.A, has awarded Glidepath a contract for the design, supply and installation, testing, commissioning and delivery of a new baggage handling system at Mariscal Sucre International Airport in Quito, Ecuador.

A retro-upgrade to the existing system, this project will increase the existing the baggage system infrastructure to meet the growing passenger demand and forms part of an overall terminal expansion project.

The expansion and reconfiguration of the baggage system will serve the international passenger area and includes a new transfer line for the outbound baggage; a new outbound baggage system from check-in to the make-up area; a new check-in system; the installation of a new outbound carousel integrated to a five-level security screening system process and two new inbound lines from the new bag hall to the extended baggage claim carousel.

Glidepath has a history in Ecuador having completed an earlier project at Guayaquil’s Aeropuerto Internacional José Joaquín De Olmedo in 2007.

A key factor in the decision by Quiport to award was Glidepath's extensive experience completing complex projects in operational airports - without impacting operations.
